Trend Introduction: Maxi Skirt

Hello readers!! This week's trend is Maxi Skirts, and Hannah, Mercy, and Bridget will all be posting ootds with, you guessed it, their take on the maxi skirt trend. ;) So, since I obviously can't put a maxi skirt on my nails, I decided to do nails inspired by this lovely outfit by armband on Polyvore.

Long skirt!

I actually saw the skirt awhile back and knew I'd have to do nails inspired by it sometime!! I sort of used this technique by Chalkboard Nails, varying the amount of polish on the brush to get the look that I wanted.

I started with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener, and used Zoya Purity as my base color. Then I dragged on Julep Eloise, Sally Hansen Please Sea Me, and a bit more of Purity to make it look right. For my thumb, pointer finger, and pinkie, I applied three coats of Please Sea Me, and while the last one was still wet I added the gold studs (which I think I got on Amazon). I topped everything with HK Girl Top Coat by Glisten and Glow.

In other news, I got my wisdom teeth out last week!! I never thought I'd say this, but I am so sick of mashed potatoes lol. And Hydrocodone completely knocks me out, so when I haven't been in pain, I've been sleeping. Fortunately, I'm now able to chew soft-ish foods!!! Hooray!! =D Anyway, thanks for reading, comment and let me know how your week has been!

No-Water Marble Heart Nails

Hello everyone!

Obviously, our theme this week was Valentine/red/pink, so I decided to do these adorable marbled heart nails.

I started out with my usual base coat (Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener), then applied one coat of Zoya Kimber and let that dry completely. Once it was dry, I added another, thicker coat, dotted on Zoya Purity with a dotting tool (you can also use a ball sewing pin stuck into the eraser of a pencil), and pulled a pin through to make the hearts. This took some practice!! You have to do it very quickly so the polish doesn't dry at all, and you have to find just the right pressure to put on the pin. I also tried white acrylic paint for the hearts, since it dries much more slowly, but it didn't spread well at all, so I wouldn't recommend that. I topped it all off with one coat of Glossy Glam top coat. This manicure was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest by The Crafty Ninja. I didn't follow a tutorial, I just winged it, but I found hers, and here it is, if you'd like to see how she did it!

Thanks for reading!! =)

Valentine's Day Eye and Lip Tutorial

Hello everyone!

Where do I begin? Well, I always wanted to start a beauty and fashion blog with some of my friends. I thought about it for a while before deciding not to do it due to time and the work needed for it.
When Bridget said we should start a fashion and beauty blog together, I decided to give it a go. I invited my friends Hannah and Brooke to join us. (They will be posting next week.) So here we are! I'm hoping this blog will grow and become very popular!
Alright, down to the trend. This weeks trend was red and pink for Valentine's Day. Due to me not having much pink and red clothing, I decided to do a Valentine's Day eye and lip tutorial.

The First Post and Trend Introduction!

Hello everyone,

Happy (early) Valentine's Day! Brooke, Hannah, Mercy and I will be here all week long to help you celebrate with outfit ideas, makeup, hair and nail tutorials and tidbits from our lives. Every week we will introduce a new trend to inspire us and then we will each take turns posting our interpretation of said trend. I know I am looking forward to seeing what my friends have in store, and they have given me the honor of writing the first post and to introduce this week's trend. And so, without further ado, we have our trend: Valentine's Day Pink and Red!

When I first heard about this idea, I will admit I was a bit nervous. I don't own a lot of pink or red clothing, being more of a blue and purple girl myself, and certainly don't consider myself experienced enough to combine the two colors successfully. That being said, I decided to take my own, casual, easy spin on the idea with a comfortable, polished, everyday look that you can throw together in seconds and still feel festive.

With some some help from my amazing mother, I held a mini photoshoot in her room much to the amusement of my best friend who had stopped by. Here are the results:

Valentine Red One

Shirt: Verve, Pants: Land's End, Boots: Sale item at T.J. Maxx, Earrings: Kohl's

Valentine Red Two

One of my favorite things about these boyfriend style jeans is they can look effortless with a rolled cuff and ankle boots or heels, and the colored corduroy is both fun and classy. The shirt is also a great piece, with a beautiful, rounded neck and enough interesting construction to make it different, but it's still as comfy as your favorite cotton T.

Valentine Red Three

Thank you so much for reading our first post and I hope that you come back for more!

Love,

Bridget
